Encore Melaka Theatre

The most notable landmark of Impression City, Encore Melaka is set to become the future cultural icon of Melaka. Designed by China’s state-owned Beijing Institute of Architectural Design, the structure will accommodate more than 2,000 seats and a state-of-the-art on a 360-degree rotating seat platform.

Chief director Wang Chaoge, who pioneered real-scene performances in China in collaboration with Zhang Yimou and Fanyue has taken the helm to direct this first Impression Series out of China. Acclaimed as the most innovative director in China, Melaka’s culture and heritage will come alive through Director Wang’s creative leadership.

Wang Ge, Chief Architect of Impression Melaka theatre brings together Eastern and Western architectural influence into the design, weaving in colourful local culture and element that reflect the warmth of the people. Wang Ge describes his concept of Impression Melaka as pristine and pure – it links the earth and the sky, embraces diversity, symbolizes purity with clean colours and warmth with red tones.

Encore Melaka is scheduled to premiere in the second quarter of 2018.
